HLTPAT005 has officially been superseded by HLTPAT010 – Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing, the updated nationally recognised unit of competency for workplace drug and alcohol testing.

 

If your organisation conducts drug and alcohol testing, transitioning to HLTPAT010 is essential to maintain compliance and protect the legal integrity of your testing program.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to confirm collection requirements, prepare client and equipment and collect specimens via urine and/or oral and breath testing following the special procedures that apply for drugs of abuse testing.

 

This unit applies to individuals working in collection centres, in hospitals, in other health care environments and workplaces where drugs of abuse testing takes place.

​

Progressive Diagnostics is a nationally Registered Training Organisation (RTO Number 41103).   

 

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Nationally Recognised Training

​

​​You will learn the theory and practical elements of carrying out a range of workplace drug and alcohol testing and the related administrative requirements of performing these duties:

​

 

  • Urine Drug Testing
    (AS/NZS 4308:2008   /   AS/NZS 4308:2023);

     

  • Oral-Fluid (Saliva) Drug Testing
    (AS/NZS 4760:2019);

     

  • Breath Alcohol Testing / Breathalyser Operation
    (AS 3547:2019)

HLTPAT010 Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing is the minimum requirement for workplace drug and alcohol testing compliance.
